SFH workflow

SFH workflow starts with reviewed door and frame data

The SFH export is only useful if the opening data is clean enough to import. Fresco helps Division 8 estimators review doors, frames, hardware sets, and required material fields before sending a tab-delimited file downstream.

Why SFH handoff breaks upstream

SFH does not fix an incomplete takeoff. If door material, frame material, opening type, handing, hardware set, rating, or frame data is missing before export, the quoting workflow inherits that problem.

That is why the review has to happen before the file is created. Fresco keeps the opening tied to the schedule, plan, frame, and hardware evidence so the estimator can clean the data while the source context is still visible.

What Fresco prepares before export

  • Reviewed opening records from door schedules and floor plans.
  • Door and frame material fields needed for SFH import.
  • Hardware set references, handing, ratings, and frame context.
  • A tab-delimited .txt export for the SFH / AAOS-compatible handoff.

Material checks before the handoff

Before the SFH .txt export, Fresco checks whether openings are missing door or frame material. The warning is intentionally early: it gives the estimator a chance to fix the rows before the import rejects them or forces cleanup inside the quoting system.

The check does not replace estimator judgment. It points at the openings most likely to break the handoff so the estimator can review the source sheets and make the call.

What still needs estimator review

  • Pairs, handing, fire labels, exterior conditions, and special frame requirements.
  • Manufacturer, series, gauge, jamb depth, and face dimensions that affect pricing.
  • Hardware set conflicts between the schedule and specification.
  • Any opening where the plan, schedule, or spec evidence does not agree.

Frequently asked questions

Does Fresco replace SFH?

No. Fresco sits upstream. It helps prepare and review the Division 8 takeoff before data moves into the SFH quoting workflow.

What does Fresco export for SFH?

Fresco supports an SFH / AAOS-compatible tab-delimited .txt export for reviewed opening and hardware data.

Why does door and frame material matter for SFH?

The SFH import workflow requires door and frame material on openings. Fresco warns when those fields are missing so the estimator can clean the file before handoff.

Should estimators still spot-check the SFH export?

Yes. Review high-risk openings, hardware set conflicts, rated conditions, pairs, and unusual frame details before treating the export as ready.
